McCoy College Internal Admission Process
How to Become a Business Major:
Current or recently admitted Texas State students who are interested in pursuing a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree must internally apply and be admitted to the McCoy College of Business.
Specific admission requirements that must be met are based on the total number of college credit hours a student has completed and has posted to their Texas State transcript at the time of application submission. Select one of the completed hour categories below to review admission requirements:
- Academic Standing Requirement: Current students that have already attempted courses at Texas State and whose Texas State GPA is below a 2.00 are not eligible to internally apply to McCoy College regardless of Overall GPA or Assured Admission status. Students must first raise their Texas State GPA to at least a 2.00 to be eligible to apply.
- Students with 16+ Hours After High School: Students must wait to apply until after final grades have posted to their Texas State transcript if pending courses needed to meet admission eligibility and/or GPA requirements.
- Second-Degree Seekers: Second-Degree seeking students who did not earn an Overall GPA of a 2.50 or higher in their first degree are not eligible for admission to McCoy College.
- Bachelor of Arts (BA) with a Major in Economics: Students interested in pursuing a BA degree in Economics do not need to internally apply to McCoy College. Instead, please contact our office at 512.245.1993 for next steps to change your major.
